Frequently Asked Questions
A functional approach is a personalized, root-cause approach to health. Instead of chasing symptoms one at a time or telling you everything looks “normal” when you know it isn’t, we look deeper to find the underlying imbalances driving how you feel. It’s about connecting the dots between your symptoms, your labs, and your physiology so you finally understand what’s actually happening, and how to support your body from here.
Traditional care often focuses on managing symptoms one at a time, usually with medication, and works best when there’s a clear diagnosis. But when your labs come back “normal” and you’re still not feeling right, that model can leave you stuck. A functional approach looks at the whole picture, your diet, lifestyle, stress, environment, and history, to find the imbalances underneath your symptoms and build a personalized plan to bring your body back into balance.
I use advanced, functional lab testing to uncover the root causes of your symptoms. I customize testing for each person based on your history and what your body is telling us. Common panels include: comprehensive blood panel, GI Map stool testing, Dutch urinary hormone testing, HTMA, Total Tox Burden, Nutrient Status.
This is for the woman who’s done everything “right” and still doesn’t feel like herself. If you’re waking at 3am, crashing by afternoon, bloated by evening, and being told your labs are “normal” when you know something’s off, you’re in the right place. Together we’ll uncover the root causes, cortisol, blood sugar, hormones, gut. Let’s work together to help you feel like yourself again, inside and out.
This work is powerful, but it isn’t for everyone. This probably isn’t the right fit if:
You’re looking for a quick fix. Real healing takes time, consistency, and a willingness to trust the process.
You’d rather mask symptoms than address what’s causing them. My focus is on the root cause, not temporary band-aids.
You’re not ready to make changes. Lasting results come from action, in your nutrition, lifestyle, and daily habits.
You want a one-size-fits-all plan. Everything I do is personalized to you, your history, and your labs.
But if you’re ready to take ownership of your health, do the deeper work, and finally understand what’s happening in your body, you’re exactly who this is for.
I do not accept insurance. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition is an opt-in model of self-care. As we are not physicians and we do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, we do not take insurance. My goal is to make functional health care affordable and accessible to as many as possible. Many clients are able to use FSA or HSA funds for testing.
I work with women experiencing symptoms and imbalances such as digestive issues (bloating, constipation, IBS-type symptoms, and food sensitivities), hormonal imbalances (PMS, perimenopause, menopause, and PCOS-related symptoms), thyroid and adrenal imbalances, fatigue and low energy, brain fog, mood swings, and anxiety, weight that won’t budge despite doing “everything right,” and environmental toxin exposure and detoxification support.
I also support clients navigating complex, ongoing issues, including those working alongside their doctor to manage autoimmune conditions or chronic infections like Lyme and Epstein-Barr.
If you’re not sure whether we’re a good fit, reach out, I’m happy to talk it through.
Possibly, but they’re never the whole plan. When it makes sense, I may recommend targeted, high-quality supplements to correct specific deficiencies or support your body while it heals. But supplements are just one piece. Food, sleep, stress, and sustainable daily habits are the real foundation, and that’s always where we start.
